Pirkei Avot, with commentaries of the Rambam and Nachalat Avot by Don Isaac Abarbanel. Venice, 1545. Printed by Marco Antonio Justinian (Giustiniani). Second edition of Nachalat Avot.
According to the colophon, this is the first book printed by Marco Antonio Justinian, who established his printing press in Venice in 1545.
On the title page are signatures and ownership inscriptions in Italian writing by Rabbi "Yehuda Marvigo". Signature in Ashkenazi handwriting of "Ya'akov David" [perhaps Rabbi Ya'akov David Biderman, author of Hagahot Maharid]. Many censor erasures [some completed in late Ashkenazi handwriting, perhaps by the same Rabbi Ya'akov David]. A censor authorization signed in Italian handwriting from 1602, appears on the last page.
[20], 21-215 leaves. Approximately 20 cm. Overall good condition. Stains and wear, ink damages and holes in censor erasures. Leaves 2-9 are replaced from another copy, detached and with worming and tear damages. Old binding, damaged.
Variant. A copy with different pagination appears in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book: 205, [1], 209-215 leaves.
