Tikun Sofrim with English Translation - London, 1787 - Six-Volume Set

The... Book of Moses... with the English Translation... with notes... by Lion Soesmans, corrected and translated by David Levi / "Tikun Sofrim with vavei ha'amudim and the Or Torah notations, with English translation and notes". London, [1787].
Six-volume set, a separate volume for the five megillot. Hebrew and English on facing pages. Simultaneously, another edition only in Hebrew was printed.
A separate title page in English for the Haftarot. In three volumes (Shemot, Vayikra, Bamidbar), illustrated title pages were bound before the title page of the Haftarot - these are actually the front Hebrew title pages which were printed and bound twice (apparently in the printing press). This phenomenon is bibliographically unknown.
The set was rebound with handsome leather bindings. A strip of the original bindings with the owner's name embossed in gold: "Israel Israel 1788" is glued upon these new bindings (with the exception of the volume of Bereshit which does not have this embossment).
Six volumes. Approx. 20 cm. Good condition. Stains. Foxing. New bindings. Housed in matching box.
