Fourteen postcards and a card designed as a postcard depicting hotels in Jaffa, Jericho, Ramla, Nazareth, Nablus, Tiberias and Bethlehem in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Various publishers, Germany and Palestine (the publisher and the place of publishing are not indicated on some postcards), late 19th century and early 20th century.
The hotels are depicted by themselves on the backdrop of the various cities or alongside other sites in the city. Some of the postcards were published as advertisement for the hotel depicted. Two of the postcards were printed to commemorate the visit of Emperor Wilhelm II to Palestine in 1898.
Among the hotels: Hôtel du Parc, Jerusalem hotel and the Bella Vista hotel in Jaffa; the Reinhardt hotel in Ramla; Hotel Germania in Nazareth; the Jordan hotel in Jericho; the Hamburg-Amerika Linie company hotel in Nablus; and hotels whose names are not indicated in Jericho, in Nazareth and on the road to it, in Tiberias and in Bethlehem.
The collection includes one card designed as a postcard, "Gruss aus Nazareth", with illustrations typical of souvenir postcards of this type. An advertisement for the press and the publishing house where the card was printed appears on verso.
11 of the postcards are undivided.
Approx. 14X9 cm. Good overall condition. Stains and minor blemishes. All the postcards except for two were used.
Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.
