Album with 31 photographs from the first years of the settlement Moledet; gift from the members of the settlement. Moledet, ca. 1937-1942.
The album contains photographs documenting the first years of Moledet since its first day; captioned by hand on the leaves of the album. Among them: "The lands of Taibeh before the founding of Moledet", "On the day of its founding, 4.7.1937", "The first furrow", "The building of the first shed", "The year of 1940, the rebuilt Moledet after it was burned down completely in the summer of 1939", "… the second of Nissan 1942, laying of the cornerstone of the ten first houses", and more.
At the beginning of the album, a long, handwritten dedication to David Baum, with words of appreciation for his assistance to the establishment of the settlement. The dedication is dated: "Moledet, Kislev 4, [1942]".
The settlement Moledet was established on lands near Taibeh in the Jezreel Valley in April 1937 within the framework of "Chomah UMigdal" (Wall and Tower). The founders, immigrants from Germany, received their training in the nearby settlements of Kefar Yechezkel, Nahalal and Kefar Tuviah.
A total of 31 photographs, arranged in the album using mounting corners. Size of photographs varies (approx. 6x8 cm to 12x17 cm). Size of album: approx. 29.5x22 cm. Goof overall condition. Minor blemishes. Slightly stained binding.
