Photograph album of the "Pardess" society, with 14 photographs documenting the process of the picking, packaging and shipment of oranges. [Palestine, ca.mid-1930s].
The photographs are mounted to the leaves of the album; some of them are captioned by hand on the leaves, in Hebrew and English. Among them: The "Pardess" stand at the "Tel Aviv exhibition"; 1934, interior of one of the orange packing houses; Bucharian Jews picking oranges; and more.
On the front binding there is an embossed inscription "Pardess Ltd."
The "Pardess" Society was founded in 1990 and was the first cooperative agricultural society in Israel. In its prime, the society had sales branches in six sea-side cities in England as well as in Istanbul, Alexandria and Cairo.
14 photographs, approx. 9x14 cm (two of them are larger: 12x13.5 cm; 16.5x11 cm).
Size of album: 30.5x20 cm. Good condition. Minor stains and blemishes on several photographs. Binding bound with string, slightly loose and damaged.
