The booklet contains a description of the chain of events from the Declaration of Independence until July 15, 1948: the invasion of the Arab armies, the course of the battles, the efforts of the mediator on behalf of the United Nations, Folke Bernadotte, to achieve a ceasefire, the agreement of the parties to a four-week temporary truce and the violation of the agreement by the Arab countries. The loyalty of the State of Israel to the United Nations is presented in the booklet by means of letters, declarations and testimonies submitted by the Israeli representatives to the general assembly and to the United Nation Security Council. The booklet contains letters by Moshe Sharett, declarations and testimonies by Abba Even (Eban) and by Abba Hillel Silver, and more.
