Two postcards, with letters handwritten and signed by R. Yosef Tzvi (Maharitz) Dushinsky, rabbi of Galanta, Khust and Jerusalem. • Letter of report to the parents of a student in his yeshiva - Zerach Baum. Galanta, Adar 1911. "It is a pleasure for me to inform you… to provide you with satisfaction regarding you son, my dear disciple, who is excelling in Torah, fear of G-d and noble character, Zerach… I received great pleasure from him, I also saw that the topics he has studied are organized in his mind and well understood, and all his behavior and ways conform with the path rising upwards in holiness, and I hope he will continue rising and garnering praise, to the delight of his parents and teachers… Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky". • Letter to his friend and disciple R. Naftali Krausz (of Prešov). Khust, [Elul 1932]. The letter contains blessings for a good inscribing and sealing, and the coordination of a meeting at the train station, in the course of R. Yosef Tzvi's trip to Pressburg: "…our plan, G-d willing, is to depart tomorrow, Monday, through Pressburg, and we will be there on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Thursday, an hour or two before midday, we will be in Kashoi, may G-d guard our coming and going from now and forever, and I would be delighted to meet you, especially since we need to change platforms… Your faithful friend…, Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky". R. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky (1868-1948), foremost Hungarian Torah scholar, among the prominent Torah scholars in his generation. He served as rabbi of Galanta and Khust, where he also headed one of the largest and most prestigious yeshivot in Hungary. In 1933, he immigrated to Eretz Israel, to succeed R. Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld as rabbi of the Eida HaChareidit in Jerusalem, and stood at the helm of Orthodox Jewry in Eretz Israel. He reestablished his yeshiva in Jerusalem, and delivered regular lectures. He was connected to his thousands of disciples like a father to his sons, as is portrayed in these letters. Two postcards. 14 cm. Printed official titles. Good condition. Creases and a bit of wear.
