Joseph Zarecki ( September 1, 1891 , November 28, 1985 , 17 Kislev 5746 ) was one of the greatest Israeli painters , born in the Russian Empire , one of the founders of modern art in the Land of Israel during the Yishuv period and after the establishment of the State of Israel . In 1948 Zaritsky was among the founders of the " New Horizons " group, which sought to encourage the influence of international art on visual art in Israel . His works created a unique Israeli style of abstract art , which he sought to promote through the group. For his work he won the Israel Prize for Painting in 1959 .
" Haifa, the Technion " is a painting in watercolor by the Israeli painter Joseph Zaritsky . The painting, dated December 16, 1924 , is considered one of the earliest works of Zaritsky's work.
The painting depicts a corridor in the old Technion building , which used to be the Technion and is now the Madatech - the National Museum of Science, Technology and Space . In the hallway a row of pointed windows in the "oriental" style. Zaritsky chose a diagonal angle, which emphasizes the sense of space in the painting. The walls are blue painted with free and bright spots.
