Esther Lurie ( June 24, 1913 - February 14, 1998 ) was an award-winning painter and stage designer and decorator . She won twice the Dizengoff Prize . In 1939 she traveled to Kovno to visit her sister and went through the Holocaust in the Kovno ghetto and in the camps. Following the German occupation in June 1941 , while visiting her sister in Kovno, she was deported to the ghetto in the city. Her paintings were testimony to the actions of the Nazis in World War II .
