Pri Chadash, copy of the Porat Yosef, on the Shas.
On Yoreh De’ah by Rabbi Hizkiyahu di Siloa, printed by Itzik bar Leib, Furth 1769. Page before the cover has the inscription: “This belongs to Rav Yosef of Vilna.” Rabbi Yosef Sakowitz (1815-1890) was a dayan and teacher in Vilna, author of glosses Porat Yosef on the Talmud Bavli that were printed in the Vilna Shas. Was nicknamed the Zaken HaHora’ah (elder educator), and would walk about wrapped in his tallit and teffilin all day. He was one of the only members of his generation to have his chiddushim printed in the Vilna Shas, and he was appointed to write one of only six endorsements for the Mishnah Berurah of the Chafetz Haim. | Listings on the interior cover.
