Two tokens with the Tetragrammaton. France, 16th and 17th centuries.
1. A token struck in France in 1610, commemorating, most probably, the assassination of King Henri IV. Obverse: Tetragrammaton – flowing out of a cloud and sending lightning towards a town. A legend in Latin and the date surround the image. Reverse: France's coat of arms integrated into the coat of arms of Nevers kingdom, surrounded by a legend in Latin: "Henricus IIII, Francorum Et Navar Rex".
Diameter: 27 mm. Good condition.
2. Brass token struck as an imitation of charity tokens of the French organization "Filles-Madame" (an organization founded ca. mid-17th century, engaged in providing dowry money to girls). [17th century?]. Obverse: Tetragrammaton flowing out of a cloud shedding dew on an altar. The image is surrounded by a legend in Latin – "In Efrvore [Fervore] Charitatis Gram Dni Expectam". Reverse: Nobility coat of arms combined with France's coat of arms, surrounded by the legend "Mesing Rechen Pfengnig".
Diameter: 25 mm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Corrosion.
