Seven woodcuts by Yossi Stern (1923–1992) for the book "Road without End".
Signed in pencil. Some are dated 1945. Some are numbered.
Yossi Stern (1923-1992), born in Hungary, immigrated to Palestine in 1940. He worked in the work companies of the Betar movement and began his studies at The New Bezalel School for Arts and Crafts (today the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design) in 1943. These woodcuts were created for the Hebrew edition of the book "Weg ohne Ende" (Road without End) by writer Gershon Stern, entitled "Derekh ein ketz" (published in Tel Aviv in 1947), the plot of which concerns the expulsion of the Jews from Prague in 1745. The influence of Jakob Steinhardt, one of the teachers at Bezalel, can be seen in the woodcuts.
Average size: 18X10 cm. Good condition. Two of the woodcuts are identical.
