AN EARLY BRASS CHANUKAH LAMP. •Poland, 18th century. For use hanging on a wall. Made with an early sand casting technique, this lamp features two outwardly facing deers and eight oil cups. There is no shamash, nor does it seem like there ever was a place for one. An earlier similar example can be found in the Steiglitz collection of Judaica at the Israel museum, (118/846, page 148) that is cataloged as 14th/15th century German. In some opinion, the lamp is clearly a Polish example from the late 18th century
