Scroll of Esther with Silver Case. Ottoman Empire. 1888
Megillat Esther, removable by scrolling out from a decorated silver case. Apparently not hallmarked. Ottoman Empire. 1888.
Scroll written in 16 lines on five sheets of parchment. Parchment height: 9.5 cm.
Silver case height: 28.5 cm. The dome on the top of the case has a bird on it encrusted with a light-blue gem.
"יעקב שלמה הלוי הי"ו שנת 5648" ["Yaakov Shlomo HaLevi 1888"] is inscribed on the scroll's closure.
Aging stains. Fine condition. Slight distortions in the silver from minor insults.
