Great Britain: Lord John Russell/ Jewish emancipation bronze medal, 1848; by Allen & Moore; size: 31.5mm, weight: 14g. Obverse: right facing Lord Russell. Reverse: 'Divine Love' suckling her children, 'Anglican Episcopacy' on right & 'Judaism' on left appealing to Christianity for her rights: "Have we not all one Father, hath not one G-d created us." Commissioned by Hyam Hyams (Jewish London goldsmith) in tribute to PM Russell for advancing Jewish emancipation in Britain. Reverse design identical to Gabriel Riesser medal (1836) by Jewish artist Moritz Daniel Oppenheim, Loos & (August) Held. In AU-UNC with minor rim nicks; ref: Whiston "Josephus" p875.
