Collection of six important letters, from leading yeshiva deans in Eretz Israel, sent to R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. 1960-1996.
1. Letter of halachic responsa (3 pages) from R. Ben Zion Abba-Shaul dean of the Porat Yosef yeshiva. Written by a scribe on behalf of and signed by the rabbi. Jerusalem, Cheshvan 1987. R. Ben Zion begins the letter with titles of veneration, and further in the letter apologizes for the delay in responding, "since I am not in my strength, and cannot write myself, as soon as I met up with my secretary… I hurried to respond to his holy words" (this letter was written after paralysis affected his ability to write, and in his signature, it is apparent that he exerted himself to sign personally out of respect for the recipient of the letter).
2. Letter handwritten and signed by R. Moshe Hebroni "Dean of the Hebron yeshiva". Wedding congratulations and wishes for the new year. Jerusalem, Elul 1960. Addressed to "His honor my friend, the outstanding Torah scholar R. Yosef Shalom Elyashiv and his father-in-law the pious rabbi [R. Aryeh Levine]".
3. Letter signed by R. Yechezkel Sarna dean of the Hebron yeshiva. Monthly appeal letter addressed to parents of students of the yeshiva and wishes for the new year. Jerusalem, Elul 1960.
4. Letter handwritten and signed by R. Moshe Shmuel Shapira, Dean of the Be'er Yaakov yeshiva. Condolences upon the passing of the Rabbanit. Be'er Yaakov, Tamuz 1994.
5. A "Kvitel" letter handwritten and signed by R. Shimon Moshe Diskin, Dean of the Kol Torah yeshiva. Petition to pray for him: "I am undergoing treatment with significant chance for success and I request his blessing for a complete recovery, Shimon Moshe son of Miriam Leah (Diskin)". [Jerusalem, ca. 1990s].
6. Letter signed by R. Yitzchak Scheiner, Dean of the Kamenitzer Yeshiva of Jerusalem. Congratulations for his grandson's wedding. Jerusalem, Kislev 1996.
6 letters, all on official stationery. Varying size. Good condition. Stains and wear to letter 5.
