Unvowelized bible (after the Van Der Hooght edition), with Latin translation, introductions and comments by the French researcher Charles-François Houbigant (1686-1783).
A fine edition, with wide margins and meticulous typography (some commented that this edition was published in 500 copies only). The volumes contain four engravings (at the beginning of Genesis, Joshua, Psalms and Isaiah).
Volume 1: [8], CXCI, 680, [2], LV pp. Volume 2: [4], LIX, 756, LX, [1], pp. Volume 3: [4], VIII, 752, XI, 158, LXXXIV, [1] pp. Volume 4: [4], IVII, 895, [1] pp. Approx. 42 cm. Condition varies. Good-fair overall condition. Stains, creases and small tears to margins. Long tears and open tears (most of which do not affect the text) to a number of leaves. Strips of adhesive tape to margins of some of the first leaves. Bookplate pasted to front binding of first volume. Worming to upper margins of some of the second volume leaves (slight, no damage to text). Bindings are not original, slightly worn.
