"National Inquiry Commission – Yom Kippur War", copy of the partial interim report of the Agranat Commision. The report was published on April 1, 1974 (the other two parts were published on July 1, 1974 and on January 28, 1975) by the Commission members whose printed signatures appear at the end of the report: Shimon Agranat, Moshe Landau, Yitzchak Nebenzahl, Yigal Yadin and Haim Laskov.
The Commission recommended the resignation of Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General Eliyahu Zeira, charged Southern Command Chief Shmuel Gonen (Gorodish) with consequential mistakes in the southern front and found Chief of Staff David Elazar responsible for intelligence and operational failures before the war ensuing in its grave results. However, the Commission found no fault in the conduct of Defense Minister Moshe Dayan and praised the performance of Prime Minister Golda Meir.
Following the interim report which has been the focus of sharp debate among the Israeli public, Chief of Staff Elazar resigned, Zeira and Gonen were dismissed from active service and Golda Meir also resigned (in spite of the Commission's conclusions which exempted her from responsibility).
The report is typewritten and mimeograph, filed in binder bearing the inscription "The State of Israel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs".
[1], 33 pages, 32.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Dampstains to all leaves. Creases and slight folds to margins. Minor damage to binder.
