Polemics: First Edition Mitpachas Sefarim of Rabbi Yaakov Emden, Published in the Author's Home Press, Altona 1768

Mitpachas Sefarim is one of the most riveting sefarim authored by Rabbi Yaakov Emden, also known as the Yaavets.

Published in the Yaavetz's home in Altona, 1768, the first part asserts that Sefer Hazohar, Tikunei Hazohar and Medrash Hane'elam in their current forms, were not entirely authored by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, rather additions were added later, and that it is unthinkable to attribute any of those misconstrued articles to any tana or amora.

Regarding this analysis, the Shoel Umeishiv writes that this was published during the era of the Sabbateans who attempted to find legitimacy in the works of the holy Zohar. Therefore, he wrote this important book - all for the sake of heaven - in an attempt to uproot the basis for their behaviors. The Chida writes with a similar opinion.
