R. Avraham Duber Kahana Schapira (1870-1943) was famous as a great Talmid Chochom and one of the leading rabbinical leaders in Lithuania between the two World Wars. He valiantly continued to lead his community during the Holocaust and passed away in the Kovno ghetto where he was buried in what was perhaps the only large rabbinical funeral held under the watch of the Nazis.
