Two-sided Poster Against Drafting Girls with the Participation of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel
This poster is bilingual - against the draft of girls into the IDF. The Chief Rabbis of Israel - Rabbi Yitzchak Issac HaLevi Herzog and Rabbi Ben Tziyon Meir Chai Uziel - are among the signatories [in print]. End of the 1940s or beginning of the 1950s. Hebrew and Arabic in Hebrew letters.
'Proclamation of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel - 'Our dear Torah-true brothers! After clarifying the situation, we are publicizing Torah opinion that drafting women, even unmarried, to an army framework, in any way, is absolutely prohibited.' On the second side of the poster, the decision of the B"DaTz, headed by Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, is brought: Drafting women to the army is one of the three known transgressions whose law is that one must be killed rather than transgress. On facing pages on both sides, the Arabic translation appears in Hebrew letters.
Size: 34x25 cm. Fine condition.
