Mahari Di Trani Responsa - the Copy of the Rebbe Author of 'Divrei Chaim' of Sanz! On Several of the Leaves There are Stains of Candle Wax from the Candle in Light of which the Rebbe had Studied! - Handwritten Corrections - Stamps of His Son the Rebbe of Ratzfert
Mahari Di Trani Responsa. Furth 1768. Two sections in one volume.
On the title page, the stamp of the Rebbe Rabbi "Chaim Halberstam" of SAnz, author of 'Divrei Chaim'. A similar inscription on the last leaf of the volume. His stamps appear also on leaves 55, 68, 24.
On leaf 3 (of the second pagination of the Kiddushin tractate), leaf 34 and leaf 41 there is a lingual correction on the margins of the leaf in ancient script. On leaf 36, ascholarly gloss. It is possible that these glosses were handwritten by the 'Divrei Chaim' or by his son, the Rebbe of Ratzfert.
The second section of the book has a separate title page. On its upper part, two signatures and ancient ownership inscriptions from the 1740's: "Yosef ben HaRa[v] ---" "Belongs to the Maggid of our community … Yosef". Possibly, this is the handwriting of Rabbi Yosef Steinhart Av Beit Din of Furth, who is referred to in the title page of the book. Alternatively, it might be one of the important Dayanim of Furth who was called "Yosef".
On leaf 4 and at the end of the book, the stamps of the Rebbe of Ratzfert.
On leaves 16-17, stains of candle wax which dripped from the candle in light of which the Rebbe had studied!
On leaves 39, 44, 105, 106 additoonal stains of candle wax. On leaf 126, a lingual pencil correction.
First Section: [1], 200 [should be 110], 5-65 leaves. Second Section: [1], 145, [2] leaves.
33 cm.
Condition: Good. Worn title page with tears, some of them non-professionally restored. Tears with omission in five leaves. The last three leaves of the book are torn with a large omission, restored (on one of these restorations, the stamp of the Rebbe of Ratzfert).
