[HUNDRED YEAR’S WAR]: A good 10 x 2.5 piece, on vellum, dated 20th October 1380, the document being a receipt given by Jehan Leure, Captain Squire from Hardentuy who acknowledges having received from Jehan de Flament, the King´s war Treasurer, 47 Pounds as `as loan for the expenses of the Captain and eight armed infantry soldiers of my company, and for the present wars in the Picardie and defence of the said fortress..´ Bearing part of a wax seal showing a coat of arms. The clipped piece is irregularely trimmed to the edges. Overall age wear. G £300-400
