Ancient Megilat Ester – the Late 17th Century Early 18th Century
Ancient Megilat Ester (Esther Scroll), ink on parchment. Written in Italy in Sephardic North-Africa styled script.
Rolled on North-Africa styled wood. The wood is from a later period of time. The scroll is not attached to the wood.
On the column of Haman's ten sons, four ink decorations.
Enclosed is confirmation by an expert of the origin and age of the scroll.
16 columns. 23 lines per colums.
Height of wood: 37 cm.
Height of parchment: 20.5 cm.
Length of scroll: 250 cm.
Condition: Very Good. The ink has faded only in several places on the first columns. The stiches of the membranes have partially unraveled. Slight tears on the margins of the parchment in single cases.
