New York, early 20th century The ruffled shade resting on a metal and white glass candle font with green pulled feather decoration raised over a trumpet-form twist ribbed candlestick, shade aperture marked L.C.T., base with button pontil, marked L.C.T. 32.5 cm high *A similar pair of items sold at Christie’s, Sale no. 2503, Lot no. 48 for $ 8,125. *You would think that all Tiffany candle lamps use candles, but there are actually three versions — electric, kerosene and candle. All candle lamps have three basic components, the base, the insert and the shade. They differ in the height of the base, the decoration on the insert and the decoration on the shade. The typical shade is undecorated iridescent gold with beautiful stretch glass. The typi-cal insert has a pulled feather decoration. The candle version has an insert with a spring loaded candle. As the candle burns, the spring pushes it up.
