SP 17 1917 local Jamaica Patriotic Stamp League comm cv franked 1ﾽd using George V "War Stamp" + (ﾽd) Stamp League Red Cross label (3rd ver.) & tied by single strike of ANNOTTO BAY pmk. League founded 1915 by Lewis Ashenheim & provided relief for Polish Jews. The labels were sold at all PO's for ﾽd (halfpenny) ea but w/o postal validity unless inscribed "Red Cross Business" or "Jamaica Patriotic Stamp League" & endorsed w/Mr. Ashenheim's signature - then accepted in place of postage stamps.
