ELIYA RABBA – SUDILKOV, CA. 1830. A COPY OWNED BY RABBI YITZCHAK LEIB EGER

Eliya Rabba' by Rabbi Eliyahu Shapira, a rabbi and preacher in the Prague community. Sudilkov.
On the title-page are stamps of the censor and a stamp (in English): "Yitzchak Leib Eiger – Johannesburg".
In addition, there are interesting notes, among them by "Reb Yitzchak, son of Rabbi Moshe Weintraub … the Rabbi's son-in-law… and teacher in the community of…" and an especially long note signed by the writer "Avigdor son of Zerach of Weitzen".
Rabbi Yitzchal Leib Eger (died in 1871), son of Rabbi Akiva Eger, lived after his marriage in the city of Lomza. After several years, he moved to Johannesburg in South Africa, where he worked on behalf of Judaism and published the writings of his father.
