Notice and Warning regarding the Children’s Health in the “Evelina de Rothschild” school in Jerusalem, 1909.

A large notice that was published by six doctors in Jerusalem on 10.3.1909, concerning the health of the children in the “Evelina de Rothschild” school.
The doctors presented the question to the principal of the school, Mrs. Landau, “should the school be closed after the spread of the disease Encephalitis in Jerusalem” and the response was that “it is not good to close the school because the children are not under sufficient care in their homes, most of which are located in neighborhoods with very bad hygiene conditions.” Further along the notice the doctors indicated certain conditions that are needed for the school to be opened, including, among others, “that everyday everyone needs to bring a clean handkerchief.”
Amongst the signatories were the leading doctors of the time, Dr. Moshe Wallach, Dr. Aaron Mazia and more.
