Ledger of Responsa by the Würzburger Rav, Handwritten by his Son, Son-in-Law of the 'Aruch LaNer'

Halachic revelation: Ledger of responsa and halachic rulings by the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger, av beit din of Würzburg, author of Shu"t Yad HaLevi. Written by his son, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh HaLevi, av beit din of Bad Kissingen, son-in-law of the author of Aruch LaNer. 1863-1898. Some of these responsa have not been printed.

The writer's signature appears on the front flyleaf: "The youth Moshe Aryeh HaLevi Bamberger." Most of the ledger includes copies of responsa and halachic rulings from the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger, av beit din of Würzburg, that were written to his sons, the rabbis and geonim, and copies of letters with halachic questions from his son, the writer, and a copy of a halachic letter written to his son's father-in-law, the author of Aruch LaNer. Some of the responsa here were printed in one of the four volumes of Shu"t Yad HaLevi, but a large number of them, apparently, have not been printed.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger and his son, writer of this ledger, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh (Leib) HaLevi Bamberger.

[38] written leaves (most are written on both sides). Long, narrow ledger. 9x20 cm.
