Ledger of Torah Novellae by Rabbi Nathan Bamberger, Av Beit Din of Würzburg, 1859

Manuscript - notebook of Torah novellae and references handwritten by Rabbi Naftali Bamberger, av beit din of Würzburg - with novellae from his father, the gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Dov and his grandfather, Rabbi Zekkel Wormzer, av beit din of Fulda - written when he was an 18-year old youth.

Most of the notebook includes notes and references to books of responsa with respect to various halachic topics, short novellae by the author's father and grandfather, and short indices for Shu"t HaTashbe"tz. Würzburg, Kislev-Cheshvan 1859.

Rabbi Nathan Bamberger writes at the beginning of the notebook: "Compiled and collected in this kuntress are several mixed laws, some I heard, some I saw in books of Shu"t and other books by halachic authorities among the Rishonim and Acharonim. I wrote them here as a reminder for myself, the youth, Nathan son of the ga'ava"d [many honorifics] Rabbi Yitzchak Dov HaLevi Bamberger, here in Würzburg, MarCheshvan, 1859 [chronogram: שנת כת"ר תורה]. Another signature of his appears on a page affixed to the binding, dated Wednesday 7 Tishrei, 1859."

This booklet combines research and halachic rulings on interesting and varied halachic topics by [many honorifics] the writer's father, Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger, with an investigation, for example, of the topic as to "whether a person is required to visit his teacher on Shemini Atzeret." The writer copies a gloss onto one of the leaves in this notebook written by "[many honorifics] my grandfather Rabbi Zekkel, av beit din of Fulda ..." on the margins of a sheet in Sh"ut Teshuvah MeAhavah. The grandfather mentioned here is a reference to Rabbi Zekkel Wormzer, av beit din of Fulda, the writer's maternal grandfather.

[39] leaf. 14 cm. Fine-very fine condition. Stains. Original semi-leather binding.
