Irena Izen (1962) was born in Russia. She represents a third generation of artists in her family.
Graduated from the city of Yaroslavl. She immigrated to Israel with her family in 1990 and has lived in Tiberias ever since. A selection of Irena's works is displayed in a variety of galleries in Israel and abroad. Irena's style is a combination of realism, symbolism and surrealism, she has participated in many exhibitions and art collectors yearn for original work by her.
Irena says:
"I focus on two main motifs - the rabbit as a symbol and the pyramids.
My connection to the rabbit dates back to my young childhood. In my search for the place of the rabbit in world culture, I found that the rabbit is a character who appears in many legends and myths around the world, from ancient times in different cultures. Myths associate the rabbit with the moon, the sky and the sun, fertility and awakening, cunning and courage. The figure of the rabbit is present in the useful and ritualistic art of antiquity and in folk tales.
To me the rabbit symbolizes pure love, which passes from me to my immediate environment as well as to other people pecking at me. I use images of animals to tell about humans. More than that, about a relationship between a man and a woman. After all, we are all little animals…
The pyramids I create are a representation of the philosophical and the spiritual.
The subject of the pyramids refers to the organization / balance and finding the balance in the various life situations that man faces. Each element participating in the pyramid is a symbol and a hint. "In this series there is an emphasis on harmony and development. There is a connection between the various symbols that make up the story and each viewer will connect his story as he sees fit."
