WWII - 70s US Army Brig. General DSM Medal Group
Group from Brigadier General George W. McCaffrey of New Hampshire. As a Lt. Col. in WWII he served as the Commanding Officer of the 28th Replacement Depot in the Pacific from 1942-45. He served in various commands thereafter and became a Brig. Gen. in 1968 serving as 24th Infantry Division Commander in Europe, then Chief Military Assistance and Advisory Group Ethiopa until 1970. From 1971 until his 1972 retirement, he served as Deputy Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division. Included is his engraved slot brooch Distinguished service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and other campaign medals. The Philippine Liberation and Korean Defense Service Medals are newer and believed to be added by a previous collector. Comes with some of the medal boxes and numerous pages of research on him.
