Letter from Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg - the Tzaddik of Warsaw
[1] leaf. 13x21 cm.
Letter written and signed by Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg, sent to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld - regarding the receipt of 10 rubles to aid in printing the works of the Gaon of Brisk, and other issues related to printing books.
Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Naftali Zilberberg [1850-1930] was a prominent moreh tzedek in Warsaw. He was a disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter and the "Beit HaLevi". He was a confidante of the Netziv of Volozhin and the Chofetz Chaim. Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman was careful to call him with the honorific "HaGaon HaTzaddik". He primarily worked to strengthen Shabbat observance and family purity and printed placards appealing for adherence to halacha. He published the works of his father, Rabbi Avraham Binyamin av"d וויערשוב, and that of his grandfather, the Gaon of Kutna, author of Zayit Ra'anan.
