Collection of papers of the "Tenuat Ha'am" movement, from its establishment, 1940s. Tens of unknown documents
Tens of documents published by the "Tenuat Ha'am" in its first years, 1940s. Here is a one-of-a-kind collection of internal documents from the organization's members, some of which were previously unknown. the collection includes letters handwritten by various activists and typewritten documents, which reflect the activities of the movement.
Includes:
* Documents and letters handwritten by the movement's members [regarding absorbing new immigrants and various organizational details].
* Handwritten ledger from a protegeof the movement, dated 23/11/46, with the title "Course for Nachshonim counselors, 1947". Six of the leaves in the notebook have text on both their sides, in which the junior member details the organizations' goal, according to "speeches" from members of higher rank. His words are laced with the revolutionary ideas that accompanied the movement, since its founding.
* Ten internal documents of the movement's members: 9 placards regarding the movement's platform [most are not in the ephemera collection of the National Library]. Reminders from the secretariat regarding its principles, statutes, and reviews of the movement's activities [printed by stencil], protocols of meetings, articles [printed by stencil] by members [classified "internal"], internal letters to members, official invitation to the movement's convention, and more.
* Iggeret Tenuat Ha'am - official journal of the movement. Here are issues that the movement classified: "Not for sale - internal, only for members." Includes rare issue 1, printed by stencil, Tammuz 1945, with the movement's principles. It also includes issues 4-20, most are uncut. [The National Library has issues 13-20. Here are issues 1 and 4-12 that are not in their collection], and three additional issues, not numbered, from August-Octobor 1946.
* Cheil Ha'am, journal of the Tenuat Ha'am members, number 1, issue of the Jewish Fighting Brigade that was published in Italy, by stencil, edited by B. Lubowsky. Very rare, not in the National Library.
The Tenuat Ha'am was a movement founded at the start of the 1940s that included different factions, including the "Hitna'arut" faction, Mifleget HaMedina HaIvrit, Tzeirim of Mapa"i, people from Maccabi and graduates of the Shivtei HaBonim. It attempted to control the administration of the yishuv in Palestine. As the founders wrote in their bylaws, their goal was: to establish a Jewish government in the complete Eretz Yisrael, to prepare the land for absorbing masses of Jews, to arrange their quick immigration, and the establishment of a political body. The movement sent representatives to countries in Europe to spread its ideas. It had a lot of influence [generally, hidden] on the process that led to the establishment of the State of Israel. Since the movement generally arranged secret activities that were carried out by the members, there is no expansive historic information about the group. Here is a collection of historic importance that reveals the activities of the organization in the first years of its existence and sheds light on the processes that took place before the establishment of the State of Israel.
Most of these documents are not in the National Library.
Some of the documents bear aging stains, most are in fine condition.
