Interesting, Important Letter By the Lubavitcher Rebbe, from the Time between the Death of the Rebbe Rayatz and the Beginning of his Presidency, with the Name "Menachem" in a Signature - Brooklyn, the Eve of Shavu'ot 1950
An important letter by the Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn of Chabad, regarding a regulation concerning the "Torat Emet" Yeshiva. In the letter, the Rebbe announces to the management of the yeshiva that after his reading the lecture of the appointed audit committee of the yeshiva, which was appointed by his father-in-law, the Rebbe Rayatz, and after reading the rest of the material describing the yeshiva's state and being familiar with his father-in-law's position regarding the yeshiva - he has decided that "from now on, all the spiritual and material matters of the yeshiva will not be decided upon by a single person but by the leader together with another person who will be chosen by the audit committee … and if there is a dispute between them and they cannot reach an agreement on a certain matter, they will consult with the other members of the management. If then an agreement can still not be reached, they will consult with the audit committee".
At the end of the letter: "with a greeting of success in spreading Torah…"

The Rebbe's signature is special: the word "Menachem" is complete and after it his surname: "Schneersohn". The Rebbe usually signed: "MSchneersohn".

The letter is from the eve of Shavu'ot 1950. The Rebbe became Rebbe on the 10th of Shevat 1951 (17.1.1951) - the first Yahrzeit of his father-in-law, the Rebbe Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn. Thus, the letter before us was written before he became Rebbe. In the letter, Rabbi Menachem Schneersohn refers to his father-in-law several times, and adds "Hareni Kaparat Mishkavo". He also refers to the Rebbe, Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schneersohn, who had founded the "Torat Emet" Yeshiva.

The "Torat Emet" Yeshiva was the first Hassidic yeshiva that was founded in the Land of Israel in 1912. It was founded in Hebron by the Rebbe, Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schneersohn of Lubavitch as a branch of the "Tomchei Temimim" Yeshiva. In 1914, the yeshiva closed since its students who were Russian citizens had to leave the country due to the fact the Turks, who then ruled the country, were in a state of war with Russia. In 1921 the yeshiva was re-founded in Jerusalem by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Na'eh.

Typewritten on the official stationery of "Merkaz Le'Inyanei Chinuch" (Center for Educational Matters) with two handwritten corrections by the Rebbe and with his handwritten signature.
