Historical Proclamation of the Irgun (Etzel): "A Hebrew Founding Assembly Should be called which will Establish the Hebrew Government" - Adar, 1948
A historical proclamation published by the Irgun in 1948 with an excited call: "The Partition Plan has been buried; A Hebrew Founding Assembly should be called which will establish the Hebrew Government and the Hebrew Army". 21.3.1948
Extremely rare, does not appear in the National Library.
A large proclamation, bearing the title "Public Statement" in which the members of the Irgun describe the political situation in Israel subsequent to the steps taken by the USA and Russia. They foresee grave danger, "the homeland will groan under the yoke of strangers, our brothers in the Diaspora will continue to stand before locked gates … these are the results of the faulty policy of blind Jewish leaders, against which we have warned time and again …"
"The nation must reach its conclusions - to act and fulfill the next rescue plan:
The blind leadership must resign.
A Hebrew founding assembly must be called.
The proclamation ends with the call: "We are facing the inevitable historical need of fighting for our freedom and independence. Therefore, a fighting Hebrew leadership must be established … with our blood we shall establish the kingdom of Israel. With our weapons we shall release our homeland… forever".
