On right, Greek inscription AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ ('of Alexander').On right, Greek inscription AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ ('Alexander'). On left, griffon above, groundline.

This coin is part of an extensive series of posthumous coins struck in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BCE, an illustration of the wide popularity and reverence of Alexander.
