Salvatore Ferragamo was known in the 1920s as the "Star Shoemaker" because he created shoes for big names such as Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe. His passion for feet attracted him to teach anatomy to ensure he could create the most fitting shoes and the most innovative styles. Although he passed away in the 1960s, his family continues to run his shoe empire. He is considered one of the top ten shoe designers in Italy to this day.
