The manuscript document, entirely in Rodin´s hand, states `You honoured me with your invitation and I thank Mrs Daudet…but I am still and unfortunately bound to a severe food regime which is helping to recover my health..´ further saying `I wait and I keep on waiting because I have failed each time I had the pleasure to meet friends.´ Rodin refers before concluding to their close friendship.
