Shu"t Noda BiYehudah. First Edition. Prague, 1811. Impressive copy.

Shu"t Noda BiYehudah Tanina - two parts - responsa on the four parts of Shulchan Aruch by Rabbeinu Yechezkel HaLevi Segal Landau, av beit din of Prague. Prague, 1810-1811. First edition. Two parts in one volume. Separate title page for each part. Signatures.

The book Noda BiYehudah is one of the most fundamental and important works of halachah to this day. The first edition was published in the author's lifetime - in 1776. This "Mahadura Tanina" was published posthumously. It was edited by his son, Rabbi Shmuel, av beit din of Prague. There are two important and interesting forewords written by the author's sons. One is by his son Rabbi Shmuel; there are also words penned by his son Rabbi Ya'akovkeh. They write about the life of their great father including the story of printing his books.

There is a rabbinic owner's signature at the top of the title page: "The youth Menachem Tzvi Hirsch" and "Itzak Goldstein."

Rabbi Yechezkel Landau [1713-1793] was rabbi of Prague and one of the leading halachic decisors of the 18th century and of recent generations as a whole. He was known by the moniker "Noda BiYehudah" after the name of this book.
