this Set of 2 Silver Replicas of the first two small change paper notes in israeli currency (1948), one in red (50 Mils) and one in green (100 Mils), were designed by artist Otto Wailsch, according to motifs from the ancient synagogue unearthed at beit Alfa, Israel. they bear the signature of then Minister of Finance, Eliezer Kaplan;
Due to their resemblance to oriental carpets, these 2 paper bills were affectionately nicknamed "the rugs".
