The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov HaCohen Katz Poprush was among the Torah giants of his generation, a dayan in Prague and Av Beit Din in Frankurt am Main. His book, Shev Yaakov is a major work of halachic rulings and responsa, and is often quoted in halacha books. He corresponded with the great rabbis of his generation, and his students became revered rabbis in their generation.
Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, born in 1815, was the son of the Chatam Sofer, and succeeded his father as head of the Pressburg yeshiva after his father’s death. Like his father, the Ktav Sofer was considered one of the greatest sages of his generation.
