Parchment amulet for protection of the newborn child and the new mother. [probably Egypt, first half of 20th century].
Ink on parchment.
Amulet for protection of the newborn child and the new mother, "Majidah daughter of Esther," according to the kabbalistic work "Sefer Raziel HaMalakh" (Book of Raziel the Angel), with illustrations of angels that guard against the female demon Lilith. Written entirely in square script.
Approximately 12.5X19.5 cm. Stains. Minor tears and fold lines. Set in frame (not examined outside of frame).
