AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURE TERRACOTTA JUG (OINOCHOE)
Early 5th century BCE. 22.9 cm high. Decorated with Dionysus and Ariadne, seated opposite and with a standing satyr on either side, vine garlands with bunches of grapes in the field. In very good condition. Ex Sotheby’s London, 21st May 1984, lot 386. Formerly in the collection of Captain George Spencer‐Churchill (a cousin of Sir Winston Churchill).
