Letter of Blessings and Guidance from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – Shevat 1961 – Study of Chassidut "and Not Only Tales of Tzaddikim… Rather Also the Teachings of Tzaddikim"
Letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn – the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with his hand signature. Brooklyn NY, 23rd Shevat 1961.
Typewritten on the official stationery of the rebbe, with his signature and the addition of several corrections in his handwriting.
Addressed to R. Reuven Getzel Kohen of Jerusalem, in response to his letter about the study programs of Chadrei Torah Or classes in Ein Kerem, Jerusalem.
In his letter, the rebbe blesses him: "May all those involved strengthen out of joy and gladness of heart… an increase both in quantity (the number of students and activists) and in quality (the level and time spent studying)", and he guides him to teach the students halachot applicable on a day-to-day basis, and Chassidic teachings: "And not only tales of tzaddikim which he wrote about, rather also the teachings of tzaddikim".
The Chadrei Torah Or organization was founded in 1952 by R. Yonah Eidelkopf and R. Moshe Yaroslavsky, and was active until the passing of R. Yaroslavsky in 1994. The organization sent Chabad chassidim to teach Torah and Chassidut to students from non-religious homes, in the afternoon and evening hours.
