Interesting and Unique Manuscript. Prayers to be Recited at the Holy Sites. Segulot of the Righteous. Significant Kabbalistic Teachings, not Discovered Elsewhere. Late 18th Century.
Prayers to be recited at Holy Sites, and prayers for times of need. Includes Mussar topics, and customs and Segulot of Tzaddikim. Discusses matters of repentance, and significant Kabbalistic teachings, not narrated elsewhere.
Possibly authored by Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant and Rabbi Shmuel MiDolhinov.
104 Pages. Ashkenazi writing. (Two authors). Size: 17cm.
Jerusalem, 1857.
Most significant manuscript. Rich in content. Replete with prayers, ethics and Kabbala, written by Jerusalem’s sages, early 19th century. Among the prayers are those to be recited at the Western Wall, the Cave of Machpela, Meron, Tiberias and Safed.
Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant was a disciple of the Tzaddik Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin who in turn was a disciple of the Gra. He was therefore ‘the third mouth’ – a third link in the chain. The manuscript is bound in the same manner as all others the others he owned, and numbered: 23.
In 1849, the book ‘Shaarei Dim’ah by Rabbi Shmuel Midolhinov, (author of Minchat Shmuel) was printed in Jerusalem. Rabbi Shmuel was a member of the Perushim community of Jerusalem, as was Rabbi Yosef Zundel MiSalant, together with other Perushim Jews who emigrated from Vilna. This manuscript mentions on page 29 the date of the Reformist Convention in Brunschwig, 1846. This Convention prompted the writing of the book ‘Shaarei Dim’ah”. This manuscript, clearly notes the date of its writing -1856. It is most likely that this book was written by two authors; Rabbi Shmuel MiDolhinov and Rabbi Yosef Zundel MiSalant.
