A Paper of a Segula, Exceedingly Rare from the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Zundel of Salant!
A Segula for those sick with bad teeth G-d Forbid. Authored by Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant in Jerusalem. On paper. Likely mid-19th century.
Rabbi Yosef Zundel ben Rabbi Binyomin Bunim Salant, was born in the city of Salant, and was referred to as ‘The Salanter’. He was a disciple of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, mainly learning Torat Mussar (Ethics) from him. The Tzaddik, Rabbi Yosef Zundel, immigrated to Jerusalem in 1838, where for a short time he served as the city’s Rabbi. Rabbi Yosef was famed for his humility, and sold wine vinegar for his livelihood.
Rabbi Eliezer Rivlin authored his book ‘The Tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Zundel MiSalant and his Teachers’, printed Jerusalem 1927. In it he describes Rabbi Yosef’s life stories and his Torah writings, which he left behind, primarily in manuscript form. He details the manuscripts, letters and Segulot that Rabbi Yosef bequeathed us.
On page 67, Rabbi Rivlin mentions “Segula for those with bad teeth, G-d Forbid’, that he discovered in a folder of Rabbi Yosef’s manuscripts.” This piece is the page he refers to.
Passed away 1866. His son-in-law, Rabi Shmuel Salant was similarly one of Jerusalem’s Rabbis.
‘Segulot’ of Rabbi Yosef Zundel of Salant zt”l. Extremely rare!
