Manuscript. Tikkun Pessach from Tafilalet, Morocco. Customs and Regulations. Rare and Ancient.
Chahir of Pessach – Rules and regulationss for Pesach, Moroccan Tafilalet version.
Authored by Moshe Amar, signed at the end.
On Paper. Late 18th century, beginning of 19th century. Paper with watermarks.
58 pages. Size: 14cm.
Chahir or Tahir is a regulation or rule.
This is a manuscript of regulations and customs practiced by Jews living in Tafilalet, Morocco.
Professor Moshe bar Asher (Tikun Pessach from Tafilalet) writes: "unfortunately, many of these manuscripts disappeared and are no more".
The manuscript that Bar Asher researched, is from 1911, written by Reb Moshe Alessri to his son Avraham. In this manuscript, there is a Passover Hagadda with pages missing in the beginning, and only afterwards continues with the "Chahir". Regarding the manuscript that Bar Asher discusses in his article, he writes that all Haftarot mentioned are in the traditional Hebrew version with Aramaic translation. The translation into Arabic which he also used in these Haftarot – are not included in the Tikkun, although they were used in the synagogue. The delivery in Arabic was always oral.
However, in our handwriting, we also have the Arabic translation!
This handwriting is written on paper with watermarks, and is probably from the late 18th century or early 19th century.
