Shulchan Aruch, Choshen Mishpat with Torat Cohanim, with glosses of Rabbi Yaakov Orenstein and Rabbi [Efraim] Zalman Margaliot, part one. Lemberg, 1829. A comment in the handwriting of Rabbi Mordechai Orenstein, the son-in-law of the author of Ohev Yisrael of Apta.
346 leaves, 37cm. Two scholarly handwritten comments. One especially long comment signed: Mordechai Orenstein of Lasii.
Rabbi Mordechai Orenstein married the daughter of Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta, author of Ohev Yisrael. For more about him: Alfasi, Encyclopedia L'Chassidut 3, 191. His son, Rabbi Yaakov Yoel, was the son-in-law of the Admor Moshe Elyakim Beria, the son and successor of the Maggid of Koznitz.
On the title page is an ownership signature and stamp: Yaakov Pecker, Yas [maybe a member of the family of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk].
