Miniature silver mezuzah case. Filigree. Marked Bezalel Jerusalem. 1920s.
65 mm. tall. 26 mm. wide.
The body of the case is made of filigree work with a repeating design of clusters of grapes and coins. At center there is a tiny cover that opens to the right with a hinge, engraved with the letters ש-ד-י. These same letters are also written on the mezuzah parchment (includes the original parchment). The upper section has an additional cover that also opens on a hinge to allow the insertion of the parchment. Filigree flowers are attached to both sides with holes used to attach the mezuzah case to the doorpost. בצלאל ירושלם is primitively engraved.
